An essay tutor who helps you write it yourself

Bring the essay you are stuck on: a college application, a scholarship essay, a paper for a class you came back to after twenty years. You and your tutor work through it together on a live video call, line by line, until you know what it needs and can write it.

What a session covers

  • Finding your pointMost stuck essays are stuck because the writer has not decided what they are arguing yet. Your tutor asks the questions that get you there.
  • Structure that holdsWhere the thesis goes, how each paragraph earns its place, and how to end without repeating yourself.
  • Evidence and examplesWhich detail from your life or your sources actually proves the point, and which one is filler.
  • Grammar you can reuseNot silent corrections. Your tutor names the pattern, so the same mistake stops showing up in your next essay.

How a tutor helps without writing it for you

A tutor rarely fixes a sentence. They ask the question that sends you back to what you actually know.

  1. Your draft

Technology has changed the world in many ways and it has both advantages and disadvantages for students.

  2. The session

This sentence could open a thousand essays. Which one change have you actually seen up close, in your own classes?

  3. Your rewrite

When my night-school professor started posting lectures online, I could finally finish a degree around a twelve-hour shift, and I also stopped asking questions.

The student wrote the second sentence. The tutor only asked the question. An example, with details changed.

How it works

Adults returning to college, first-generation and ESL students, and anyone writing an essay that counts for admission, a scholarship or a grade.

  1. Bring what you have. A prompt, an outline, three messy paragraphs, or a full draft. Your first session is free, so start wherever you are.

  2. Work through it live. You share your screen. Your tutor reads with you, asks questions, and points to what is working and what is not.

  3. Rewrite it in your words. You make the changes during the session or after it. You leave with written notes on what to do next.

Tutoring, not ghostwriting

Your tutor will

  • Ask the questions that get you to your real point.
  • Explain what is not working and why, in plain English.
  • Show you the technique with examples you can reuse.
  • Send written notes after every session.

Your tutor won't

  • Write or rewrite your document for you.
  • Sell pre-written papers or templates to submit.
  • Run your words through an AI generator.
  • Replace your voice with someone else's.

Before you book

What does an essay tutor actually do?

An essay tutor works with you on your own draft. They help you settle on a clear point, organize your paragraphs, choose stronger evidence and understand your grammar patterns. They do not write sentences for you. You leave each session with a better draft that you wrote and a short list of what to work on next.

Will my tutor write or edit my essay for me?

No. Writing or rewriting your essay would put someone else's words under your name, which colleges and instructors treat as academic dishonesty. Your tutor asks questions, explains problems and shows examples of the technique. Every change in your essay is one you make.

Can you help with college application and scholarship essays?

Yes. Those are the essays people bring most often. Your tutor helps you choose the story that answers the prompt, find the details that make it yours and cut it down to the word limit without losing the point.

How do online essay tutoring sessions work?

Sessions happen on a video call with screen sharing, so you and your tutor look at the same document. You can bring a prompt, an outline or a full draft. After the session you get written notes, and you can send your next draft before the following session.

I have not written an essay in years. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Many of the people we work with are coming back to school at 30, 40 or 50. Your tutor starts from where you are, explains the expectations of a college essay in plain English and builds from your experience, which is usually your biggest advantage.

Bring one draft. Leave knowing how to fix it.

Your first session is free. No card, no account, and no one writing it for you.
